Crouching Rabbit, Hidden Detail

Carved stone rabbit detail.

Here’s another in my unsung-decorative-details vein. I spotted this hardworking hare while I was hunkered down to photograph some nearby foliage.

I love this rabbit! It’s quietly and unassumingly adding some delight to a mundane bench. There was no specific call for it, really. There’s nothing especially functional about it, and I would guess that 99% of adults will never notice it.

It is, however, located near this fountain with a sculpture of children. And it’s at just the right height for a toddler to see and appreciate it, to point at it and name it. BUNNY WABBIT!

Sculpture of children, fountain, father and son.
