Neighborhood Sunset

We’re all feeling a little brutalized by the weather, in these parts. The record for sustained days over 95° just got shattered. We had this nasty thing called a derecho, which blew through and deprived people of power (and thus AC) just when they needed it the most.

I’ve been spending as much time as possible indoors, keeping my air-conditioning on about a third of the time (I was lucky to be spared any power failure). I restrict my voluntary excursions to the evening hours.

The weather is due to break on Monday. Unfortunately that doesn’t mean more than a return to mid-80s, but we’ll take it. Have a look back a couple of years: plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.


A Year Ago: Melancholy Lily
