I’ve been sitting on this particular image for half a year. It was taken at the same time as this photo. Shot at an appalling 1600 ISO, wide open, the digital file is an unholy mess of noise and artifacts. To compound its shortcomings, the image only reveals its charms when seen large.
So I brought out the digital jackhammers and airbrushes and went to town on it. It still looks better at a size bigger than I can offer here. (Do have a look at the Gallery version anyway.) Perhaps you’ll enjoy, as I do, the perfectly placed pink crate, the woman emerging from behind a tree in her jewel-toned blue dress, the lacy leaves of the tree, and the strong, graphic diagonals pointing the way to the mecca of consumption in the distance. Despite all these distracting delights, the real subject of this image is the two anonymous men toting the trash. They are working at their unglamorous job with a will.
No loitering indeed.

I love the way your mind works. Always have, since way back when I use to read your blog. You, my friend, are a photographer. Everything you see, I now see. But I didn’t see it until you helped me. Awesome. I’m now in love with this place on the earth.
Your thoughtful reading/viewing means a great deal to me, Gordon.
